Housing Market Struggles To Stabilize

Posted on:

Data released this week showed that house prices have continued to decline for the sixth straight month overall, but there are some bright spots in the news.

According to the report released by Standard and Poor/ Case Schiller Home Price Indices, the annual decline posted was 3.6 percent and 3.5 percent for the 10-city and 20-city composites. Miami did see house prices rise by 0.6 percent where Tampa saw prices drop 0.2 percent.

According to an article in the Herald Tribune, Sarasota County saw a bit of an increase, up 4.4 percent in March, according to data from local Realtors associations. Many analysts say the data shows the housing market, while showing some bright spots, is still far from strong and may need awhile to truly recover.
